BUNKERS PRESENTS: THE EAGLE CLUB 2016
Below is a list of members who have played well enough, or been lucky enough, to score eagles this season
paul davies jnr
eagle - 6th hole [par 5] - preston g.c - 28/08/16
A 505 yard par 5 was took to pieces courtesy of a solid drive and a 230 yard 3 wood that took Paul the back edge of the 6th green. A tough putt lay ahead that was about 25 to 30 feet in length on a green that resembled an upturned saucer. A sumptuous swipe of his putter sent the ball on its path and it was never going anywhere else other than the bottom of the cup. A superb Eagle.
chris warbrick
eagle - 18th hole [par 5] - hesketh g.c - 08/06/16
A 450yard par 5 with a stroke index of 12 was ripped up thanks to a great drive that left Chris with about 210 yards to the pin. It was a drive he first feared may have dropped into a fairway bunker, only to see it thankfully perched just above the top lip. A 5 iron was dispatched towards the green and was almost laser-like as it landed and rolled to 8 feet from the pin. A slick putt was then dropped with confidence to give Chris his first showing on The Eagle Club [surprisingly] and a nice birdie-eagle finish at Hesketh.
dave ashley
eagle - 7th hole [par 5] - delamere forest g.c - 27/04/16
A 438 yard par 5 with a stroke index of 4 was taken apart with a solid drive leaving Dave with approximately 205 yards to the pin - which was duly attacked but caught the right to left wind and ended up in a green side bunker. He clambered down with his sand iron and zipped out a low, checking bunker shot that was tracking towards the pin as soon as it landed on the dance floor some 20 feet away and dropped with almost its last roll. Measured to perfection for a superb eagle.
chris parrish
eagle - 13th hole [par 4] - delamere forest g.c - 27/04/16
A 302 yard par 4 playing off stroke index 14. A solid tee shot left Chris with just shy of 80 yards left to the pin - which was tucked away just over the raised front lip of a bunker, in a real tricky spot. He selected his favourite wedge and struck it majestically. It cleared the bunker, the raised lip and landed just feet from the pin and with one bounce found its way into the hole.
kev murphy
eagle - 17th hole [par 5] - formby golf club - 27/03/16
A 486 yard par 5 [stroke index 8] was destroyed with two majestic shots. A solid 3 wood off the tee left Kev with 220 yards to the pin and he struck a beautiful 4-iron with a high draw to 5-6 feet from the pin and sunk the putt to walk off with a majestic eagle.
