what is lms?
LMS or "Last Man Standing" is Bunkers Golf Societies marquee event and is a competition that all members should be eager to perform well in as it rewards consistency and quality in equal measure.
It is an annual knockout competition that is open to all Bunkers members and is held at a different local 'host club' each year between April and September. You can see the previous winners of the cometition HERE
It runs in a 'Champions League' style format with the early stages of the competition being played in groups and successful players then progressing to a knockout stage with the winner being Last Man Standing and taking 100% of the prize money.
The competition in 2017 will be played solely in a Matchplay format. This comes from listening to our members and learning what scoring system works best. With Matchplay, it does not matter what time of year, weather conditions or course conditions you play each other in - it simply comes down to your quality on that given day.
However, the main features of LMS is its one-on-one approach that allows members to meet, at times to suit themselves, and play a round of golf with another member whom they may never really have much contact with. This encourages friendship and unity within the society and allows members to 'get to know each other' over the game we all love.
The "home venue" for our 2017 competition will be GATHURST GOLF CLUB in Shevington, Wigan.
