THE 2017 LAST MAN STANDING CHAMPION

The Last Man Standing Championship is designed to take place on a local course and all members who wish to take part can play in a Champions League style format. [Initially small leagues, then following into a standard knockout competition] over the course of the golfing season.
The Championship is designed to reward consistency and this shows that the winner has displayed an ability to play under pressure in competition conditions over a period of months. The event in 2017 took place at Gathurst Golf Club in Shevington, Wigan over 7 months with the final being played on our end of season trip to The Forest of Arden The final was played on the fabulous Arden Course - which only the week previous had hosted the Senior European Tour - and was in wonderful condition. It was a hard fought finale on a tricky layout and both players felt like they could have played better. However, its more than just one game in this competition and over the course of 2017, Dan has shown a level of steady consistency [despite often being angry with himself unnecessarily]. His hard work has paid off and an improvement in both his society handicap and also his CONGU one [which is also held at Gathurst GC]. A season that shows what can be done with commitment to the game and a well deserved rewards for the dedication he has shown to his game over the last 12 months. Congratulations.
