welcome to GATHURST GOLF CLUB
Gathurst Golf Club are delighted to have been paid the compliment of being invited to host the 2017 Bunkers Golf Society "Last Man Standing" Competition. We can assure all members of the Society that they will be extended a warm reception, by all at Gathurst, whenever they attend the club either to play their knock out matches, social golf or just a social visit.
Gathurst Golf Club runs in part parallel to the M6 motorway, accessible from junction27, heading on through the village of Shevington. The Golf Course is set in stunning woodland scenery that cascades down towards the Liverpool to Leeds canal, running through the picturesque Dalton Valley.
We are an eighteen hole parkland course with a variation of hole designs to challenge golfers of all abilities. Founded in 1913 Gathurst has expanded several times since the days of playing 9 holes, the longest of which was 150 yards, to its current 18 holes measuring 6063 yards. The first six holes were added in 1994 and have now blended in well with the existing course which has memorable views when playing down towards the Dalton Valley. This is particularly outstanding when playing down to the 2nd, 5th and 8th greens where the verdant and picturesque backdrops are a sight to behold on any day.
Last Year 4 of the greens were totally rebuilt and 1 other green was relayed with new drainage providing a challenge to even those with perceived putting prowess! The 18th hole is a long par 4 with a green that is reachable with two long shots, positioned in front of the patio and clubhouse.
After completion of your round you are welcome to sample the hospitality in the clubhouse or on the patio where you can watch the rest of the golfers complete their rounds. Deborah, the stewardess and Dave, the caterer, will look after your refreshment requirements.
Thanks again for requesting to use Gathurst for your Competition and we can assure your members of a very warm welcome throughout the 2017 golfing season.
