WHATS IS ALL ABOUT?
This competition was one of the reasons Bunkers Golf Society was founded. Ideas were formed and discussed over a few beers and we decided to "give it a go"......from there, Bunkers was formed.
A short overview is; a group of lads had visited North Wales early every year to enjoy a few days of competitive golf before the usual golfing season began. The competition was roughly based on dividing the number of golfers into two teams and revolved around golf by day and drinking by night. It was
In October 2012, Bunkers was formed by some of these lads on these trips and the idea was put in place to continue that competition in March of each year. However, from 2014 we decided that the name Bunkers would be used to distinguish a difference between the two teams and as a result of this, the opposing team decided to choose the name of "The Grimshaw Golf Society" [after their meeting point and local pub The Grimshaw in Skelmersdale]. From this point on, the basis for the competition was formed.
Despite the competition utilising the name of Bunkers, it is only linked to the Golf Society through our name - although the people attending are now all members!
The competition has had some amazing stories over the years and has enjoyed some national coverage [Today's Golfer in particular can be seen HERE]
